Meet Robyn Marie Holl

The First Time Someone Chose My Art

“We met for coffee to negotiate, which led to a painting delivery and sale. I stay in touch with this client to this day and even send him my art cards for the holiday season. It’s personal, sometimes, art sales.” – Canvas Rebel Feature

An Artist Shaped by Movement, Place & Possibility

A lifelong artist, Robyn’s practice has evolved through formal study, international experience, community engagement, teaching, and years of experimentation across painting, collage, watercolor, gold leaf, and mixed media.

Her work is energetic and sensual, inviting viewers to experience the movement and emotion within each piece while leaving space for their own interpretation.

A Life in Art

Robyn’s relationship with art began early in life, growing up in Maryland and developing her practice from a young age. She went on to earn her BFA in Painting with a minor in Art History from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn in 2003.

After Pratt, Robyn’s artistic journey took her far beyond the traditional studio to Abrašević / Youth Cultural Center in Mostar, Bosnia.

From 2004 to 2008, she lived and worked in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she served as Visual Arts Programs Coordinator and Assistant to Film Klub at the Youth Cultural Center “Abrašević.”

There, she developed and taught creative arts workshops for young people, built relationships with local schools and university arts programs, and became an active part of the region’s creative community.

She also exhibited her work throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, including solo exhibitions in Mostar and Sarajevo, before bringing work inspired by the experience back to Brooklyn for The Balkans in 2008.

The years she spent in Mostar became an important period of artistic exploration, pushing Robyn deeper into abstraction and expanding her understanding of what painting could communicate.

A Contemporary Fine Artist

Robyn’s formal training in Fine Arts, including a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, shaped a practice rooted in exploration, storytelling, color, and movement. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States and internationally, reflecting a continued commitment to contemporary painting and artistic expression.

Art Meets Creative Strategy

Robyn’s work extends beyond the canvas into the world of art promotion and creative communication. With a foundation in art history and studio practice, she understands how to translate an artist’s vision into meaningful stories, engaging audiences, and opportunities that connect art with people, brands, and communities.

Creating Experiences Through Art

Robyn brings her artistic perspective into the planning and curation of immersive art experiences and community events. From exhibitions to creative activations, she brings together artists, audiences, and ideas to create thoughtfully designed experiences where art can be seen, experienced, and shared.

Color. Movement. Feeling.

Robyn creates expressive paintings and collages that move between abstraction, organic form, gesture, and vibrant color.

Her work is not intended to dictate a single answer.

Instead, she creates space for the viewer to experience something personal—whether that is intimacy, energy, liberation, tension, transformation, or simply the pleasure of color and movement.

Across acrylic, oil, watercolor, gold leaf, and collage, Robyn continues to explore what happens when color and form are given room to move.

Robyn’s relationship with the arts extends beyond her own studio practice.

Since 2022, she has served as Cultural Curator at Art Ovation Hotel in Sarasota, where she curates exhibitions, manages artist residencies, develops cultural experiences, and builds relationships between artists, performers, community leaders, and audiences.

Her work as a curator reflects something that has been present throughout her career: a belief that art becomes more powerful when people have the opportunity to experience it together.

From youth arts programming in Bosnia to teaching painting in Maryland and creating cultural experiences in Sarasota, Robyn has spent much of her career helping others connect with creativity.
